This piece is the perfect size to fit where I needed it, yet gives me additional work area if needed. I tried looking allover & could not find anything suitable. My husband suggested I look online. I can now take my cookbooks out of stoage, and still have additional work surface. Easy to assemble and looks great. I have found no complaints about this product.

[...]I was worried the trim wood stain around the granite top, would not match with my cherry cabinets, but the stain is a good mix and goes well with light or dark cabinets. I wish it had matching hardware for towel bars on each side of the island. I will purchase 2 stainless steel rods to attach myself. Fairly easy to put together, very heavy top, requires 2 people. [...] I didn't care to have the dropped leaf and didn't intend on using it. I just wanted the island itself, but the top & drop-leaf come already attached to one another. We may try to figure out how to take it off in the future. Has good size drawers, and 3 shelves in each cabinet. Looks professional.

Always need more counter space and this fits our kitchen perfectly. What's a plus over a built-in island is that this can be moved in the event an appliance needs replacing. Also, it mirrors the images presented on the Home Styles website -- nice quality! The directions were complete and easy to understand - took less than two hours to assemble.

The black finish is very attractive and wood color is darker than shown but perfect for my cabinets. I added black hardware to my own cabinets and I now have a custom-made look in my kitchen. A sturdy piece.
Assembly was challenging but placed large blanket on floor to prevent scratching island and used gravity to help hold it all in place while assembling as we tilted from one side, to back, upside down to all resting on granite top. We had one minor broken piece but used wood glue to secure.

I did a remodel and this piece was a fit.[...]It was easy to assemble taking my son and I about one hour. It looks and performs as described. It is very heavy, as it should be. So, be sure to assemble it close to the place you plan on placing it. My cabinet builder was amazed at the quality and price of this product even saying he could never build this piece of furniture for the price I paid. ONE HAPPY CAMPER!

This looks great in the kitchen, updating the look. It measures a bit more than the specs, though. The granite top is very heavy and took some effort to lift and attach to the base.

This is a very fancy piece of furniture. It looks really good in the kitchen. My husband put it together all by himself and said the instructions were easy to follow. My only complaint is that the granite came with some small marks in it that I can't get out. I also recommend you put it together where you intend to place it, it is very heavy. Took 4 guys to move it into the kitchen...Oops :)

The packaging was very good although not enough to prevent a minor blemish to the top. Except for a minor misalignment of the doors, everything was perfect. It is a very solid and good looking addition to our kitchen. It took about three hours start to finish. It goes easier if you have a helper to hold the first two parts to install.

Comes in 3 VERY heavy cartons. Packed well. Very heavy to move once assembled- no casters. Needs 2 people to assemble, especially lifting the top onto the base. Camlock assembly. Some areas to screw were hard to get to. I suggest gluing the pieces when assembling to assure it stays tight-you wouldn't want the heavy top to loosen the side assemblies. . The oak top is VERY dark. When I called Home Styles support about it they just said "too bad." I would have preferred the knobs on the doors were drilled near the top of the door to make opening easier. Cabinet is more shallow than a regular base cabinet, but I found a rev a shelf built in trash can that I installed, and it work well. More shelves than I need were included. I wanted to put on knobs to match my cabinets, but standard knobs/scres will not work on these drawers/doors. All in all, an attractive piece of furniture. Wish the oak top was a medium or "cottage" oak finish, as is shown in the Home Styles' photos. Mercantila price better than other e-stores.
